The Seventh Law of Karma | The Law of Focus

Back when I was transitioning out of my career in event planning and stepping into the unknown world of acting and voiceover, there was one thing I knew for sure: I needed health insurance.

I didn’t have a detailed plan.

I wasn’t even sure what the next step would look like.

But I focused on the one thing I could do in that moment—I went to a voiceover audition.

It was for a single line in a JetBlue Airways commercial. Just one line. But I showed up, gave it my all, and booked not only the role but the announcer and the legal announcer spot.

That one audition turned into a multi-year campaign. It got me into the Screen Actors Guild—and within a few months, I had the health insurance I so clearly needed.

At the time, I didn’t know anything about the Laws of Karma. I couldn’t have told you I was practicing the Law of Focus. But looking back, that’s exactly what I was doing.

I didn’t waste time spiraling about everything I couldn’t control—I honed in on one clear step. And that focus changed everything.

If there’s something you’re longing to shift in your life—a career change, a creative path, a relationship, or a personal goal—but you’re not ready to go all in, that’s okay.

The Law of Focus doesn’t require you to have it all figured out. It simply asks you to direct your energy toward the next right step.

Sometimes, the most powerful momentum comes from focusing on what’s needed now to move you gently, steadily, and purposefully along your path.

What is the Law of Focus?

The seventh Law of Karma teaches us that we can’t be in two places at once—at least not mentally, emotionally, or spiritually. If your energy is scattered across ten different things, you’re not fully present for any of them.

This law reminds us that what we dwell on, we grow.

When we focus on what we don’t have, what’s not working, or what we fear, we fuel more of the same. But when we focus on what we want to build, what we’re ready to receive, or the one small next step we can take—we begin to shift our experience.

Real-Life Focus Looks Like…

  • Choosing to give your energy to your healing instead of your history

  • Saying no to distractions so you can say yes to what matters

  • Spending less time scrolling, comparing, or doubting—and more time creating, connecting, or resting

  • Letting go of multitasking in favor of deep, intentional presence—even for just a few minutes

It doesn’t mean you have to get it perfect.

But it does mean noticing when your energy is leaking into places that don’t serve you… and gently bringing it back to what does.

Try This: A Focus Reset

Think about one area of your life that feels overwhelming or stuck. Ask yourself:

  • What’s one thing here I can control or shift today?

  • Where am I putting energy that isn’t giving anything back?

  • What would it look like to give my full attention to what matters most—just for today?
