I'll never forget the time I manifested a flat tire.
Yep. You read that right. A flat tire. 🛞
Now to be fair, I didn't exactly ask the Universe to puncture my tire. But as I reflect back, now knowing what I know, I may as well have handed the Universe a big, shiny, pointy nail!
It all began that morning when I woke up. This was before the days of using our cell phones for our alarms, and I had to depend on my clock radio. For anyone who's too young to have relied on these ancient relics, they required electricity to do their job. And in the middle of the night, while I was catching some hard-earned zzz's 😴 - mine went out.
Now, knowing how crucial my alarm was to rouse me each day before the sun rose, I'd invested in one that had a battery back-up for just such times.
Unfortunately for me, I had borrowed the batteries from the alarm clock to power my portable cd player - and never put them back.
As I began to realize what happened, I shifted into pure panic mode, knowing sh*t was going to hit the fan if I wasn't at the country club to open up the dining room for the early morning golfers, and I was angry at myself for not putting the batteries back (or here's a novel idea - get more batteries!)
As I was rushing to get ready, my impassioned self-talk was filled with fear, frustration and a feeling of dread while asking what else could possibly go wrong to make me even later.
And guess what? Twenty minutes later I'm on the side of the road with a deflated tire.
That day, I had unintentionally manifested a little chaos for myself. Manifestation isn't just about calling forth all the good stuff. We are always manifesting through our thoughts, words, beliefs, ideas and actions - whether we are conscious of it, or not.
If our minds are cluttered with negative expectations, defeatist attitudes and self-doubt - well, the Universe delivers accordingly.
The key is to choose your thoughts and actions with intention to harness the power of co-creating with the Universe. In other words, shift from unconscious manifesting, to deliberate manifesting.
Here are some tips:
💡 Get clear on what it is you want to experience. Take some time to employ visioning, meditation, contemplation and journaling in your spiritual practice. The more clear you are, the more direct your path is.
💡 Be mindful of your thoughts and words. Remember, the Universe is always listening. Pay attention to what you're broadcasting. When you catch yourself saying things like:
"Nothing ever works out for me."
"Everything is always so difficult."
"My life is a mess."
Flip the script!
"Everything always works out for me!"
Even if you're not ready to do a complete 180, give your thoughts a little nudge in the right direction.
"Bit by bit, things are beginning to work out for me."
💡 Feel your affirmative thoughts and words to be true.
Feeling is the language of the Universe. It's our emotionally backed thoughts and words that have the biggest impact. As you're flipping the script on your thoughts and words to broadcast to the Universe what you want to manifest, imagine what it would feel like for you if that was all true.
💡 Take inspired action.
Manifestation isn't just sitting around broadcasting your emotionally-backed thoughts and words while binge watching Netflix (Full disclosure - I've tried!). Once you set your intention, pay attention to the nudges, urges, ideas and opportunities that pop up. Maybe it's to reach out to someone or sign up for a class. This is the Universe's guidance and direction.
You don't need to know every step of the journey. Just follow the breadcrumbs. These inspired actions are part of the manifestation process.
💡 Trust the timing.
This for me is one of the toughest parts, trusting that the Universe is working behind the scenes when I can't see it. Sometimes it takes longer because there are other pieces of the puzzle that need to come together first.
We are always in a creative partnership with the Universe. The difference between manifesting by accident versus manifesting by design is simply intention. So choose thoughts and words that support what you want in your life; feel the feelings of what it is you want to experience; take inspired action.
