Integration: The Sacred Space Between Who You Were and Who You're Becoming

Updated: Aug 26

A while back, while living in California, I had a pretty comprehensive knee surgery to repair a previous surgery gone wrong - meniscus, ACL, bone-on-bone, scar tissue. An overachiever of a surgery, to say the least!

Recovery was long. Months of crutches, not being able to bear weight, followed by many more months of slowly rebuilding strength.

About a year post-op, I finally felt ready to go on a real hike with my dogs.

I chose a fairly isolated trail where they could be off-leash, because managing two excited shepherds who together outweighed me by a good margin did not feel like the safest plan while I was still finding my footing.

The beginning of the trail was smooth and wide, an easy stroll.

But before long, it narrowed, winding upward into rocky terrain.

The higher I climbed, the shakier it felt.

Every few steps I was tempted to turn back—to retreat to that flat, familiar ground where I knew I wouldn’t trip or slip. Where it was easier.

But I also knew something else: the view I wanted wasn’t at the bottom.

The breathtaking part was waiting at the top.

So I kept climbing - even when I felt anxious, even when I felt unsure and alone.

That experience reminds me so much of what happens when we go through a period of growth.

When we’re moving from the version of ourselves who sets a vision and intentions - into the version who can actually hold those dreams, live them, and embody them.

It’s the part of the manifesting process no one really talks about:

The messy middle.

The in-between.

The part where insecurities, old stories, and limiting beliefs all seem to rise up at once.

And they have to rise up - because it’s the only way we can see them clearly, recognize them for what they are, and finally put them in the rearview mirror.

And honestly? It feels a lot like being back on that trail.

These past 12 weeks, we’ve walked through each of the 12 Laws of Karma together, one by one.

Each law has been like a stepping stone, offering new awareness, clarity, and perspective.

But now comes the real work: integration.

Integration is where awareness meets action.

It’s where we begin weaving these truths into our daily choices and ways of being.

And that’s also where things can feel… wobbly. Messy. Sometimes downright hard.

Because growth doesn’t happen in the comfort zone.

Growth asks us to leave behind what’s outdated, restrictive, or no longer working.

And stepping away from the familiar almost always stirs up resistance.

Anxiety, fear, self-doubt… they bubble to the surface.

It can feel like the ground is shifting beneath us, and every part of us just wants to run back to what we know.

But here’s the truth: the comfort zone is not where transformation happens.

To hold the dreams, manifestations, and inspired life you desire, you must become the person capable of holding them.

And that process of “becoming” isn’t about bulldozing through discomfort.

It’s about learning how to breathe inside of it.

Because those fears and insecurities that rise up?

They’re not signs you’re failing.

They’re signs you’re healing.

They’re the old stories making one last attempt to keep you safe, even as your soul calls you forward.

That’s the essence of integration: the sacred space between who we were and who we are becoming.

It’s where everything that no longer serves us is revealed so we can release it.

It’s where fear shifts from being an enemy to being a marker - a reminder that we’re stepping into new territory.

And when we bring awareness to this process, we can meet the discomfort with compassion instead of panic. We can remind ourselves: this unease is not a warning to turn back - it’s proof that I’m growing.

✨ If you’re feeling that shift right now - if the ground feels a little unsteady beneath you - I created a guided meditation just for this space: Finding Ease in the Unsettling Shift.

It’s here to help you soften, ground, and trust yourself through the integration period.

And here are a couple of reflective journal prompts to pair with the meditation:

👉 Where do I feel the pull of the comfort zone in my life right now?

👉 Where do I sense my soul is calling me forward, even if it feels uncomfortable?

Because every climb, every stretch beyond the comfort zone, is leading you to the view you were made for.

Your life. Your way. One inspired step at a time.
