Be Here Now (No, Really) |The Law of Here and Now

The other day, I was listening to Michael Beckwith from the Agape Spiritual Center—one of those voices who always seems to drop exactly what I need to hear.
He said:
“Accept what is. There is no transformational value in wishful thinking.”
Oof. That one landed.
Now, he wasn’t talking about the kind of wishful thinking that dreams up a better future (vision boards, I still love you).
He meant the kind that keeps us tethered to the past—replaying moments over and over, wishing we’d said something different, done something differently, or that something else had happened altogether.
There’s no forward movement in that kind of mental loop. Just spinning.
Because let’s face it: no amount of replaying the past will change it.
And no amount of regret will move us forward.

Of course, there’s value in reflecting.
Gaining insight, healing, learning the lesson—those are all healthy and necessary.
But once we’ve gotten what we need, our work is to accept what is.
We can’t fully step into the present while dragging the past behind us.
But there’s another side to this, too.
When we’re not stuck in the past, we’re often catapulting into the future—trying to pre-plan, pre-fix, and pre-control things that haven’t even happened yet.
You know… that place where anxiety likes to set up shop.
It thrives on what-ifs, worst-case scenarios, and imagined timelines.
The more we try to control the uncontrollable, the more untethered we feel.
And yet… how often do we try? 🙃
Meanwhile, we’re nowhere near the moment we’re actually in.
When we stay stuck in the past or try to control the future, we rob ourselves of the only place where real power exists: the present moment.
Which brings us right to the heart of this week’s karmic focus: The Law of Here and Now.
This law invites us back into presence—because that’s where we find peace, joy, and clarity.
It’s also where we access our power—the ability to shift our perspective, take conscious action, and align with what we do want to create.
Because here’s the truth:
✨ You can’t change the past.
✨ You can’t control the future.
✨ But you can decide how you want to show up in this moment.
That’s where transformation happens.
If staying present feels hard, you're not alone—and it’s not a personal flaw.
We live in a world that constantly pulls our attention away.
Presence is a practice.
Here are a few ways to start coming back to now:
👁️ 5-4-3-2-1 Grounding
This quick practice gets you out of your head and into your senses:
5 things you can see
4 things you can feel
3 things you can hear
2 things you can smell
1 thing you can taste
💬 Affirmations for Presence
Use these like anchors throughout your day:
I am - right here, right now.
Right here, right now, I am safe.
The present moment holds everything I need.
🌬️ Breathwork
Your breath is always happening now. Slowing down your breathing is one of the quickest ways to reconnect with the present and create a sense of safety.
If you’d like support with this, I’ve created a guided meditation just for this practice:
And if someone you know could use a little peace and empowerment in the present, feel free to pass this along. 🩵

This moment is enough.
I release what I can’t control and return to what I can: my breath.
